Ingredients

Thickener

  • 2.5 tablespoons (22.5g) cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) cold water

Instructions

  • Pressure Cook Ham: Add 1 (14oz or 398ml) can of pineapples and 2 tablespoons (30ml) dijon mustard in Instant Pot. Give it a quick mix. Layer a stainless steel trivet and place ham on top. Drizzle ¼ cup (63g) honey all over the top of the ham.

    Pressure Cook at High Pressure:
    -8-9 lbs Bone-in Uncut Ham: 20 minutes + 30 minutes Natural Release
    -6-7 lbs Bone-in Uncut Ham: 15 minutes + 30 minutes Natural Release
-Spiral Ham (Cut Ham): 3 minutes + 20 minutes Natural Release will be warm enough
Check internal temperature at its’ thickest part with an accurate food thermometer.
*Pro Tip: 95°F (35°C) - 110°F (43°C) is plenty hot enough to serve a piece of ham. Especially with some hot pineapple sauce! If for some reason, the ham is at 80°F (27°C), place the lid back on and pressure cook the ham at High Pressure for another 5 minutes and 10 minutes Natural Release.
  • Make Honey Pineapple Sauce: Rest ham on a large chopping board or serving bowl (the internal temperature will continue to rise).

Bring the sauce back to a simmer by pressing the "Cancel" button, then "Saute" button. Taste and gradually add in brown sugar to desired sweetness.
*Pro Tip: You will want it to be quite sweet to balance the salty smoky ham flavor (for reference, we added roughly ¼ cup (50g) brown sugar).
Mix 2.5 tbsp (22.5g) cornstarch with 3 tbsp (45ml) cold water in a small mixing bowl. Add the cornstarch mixture one third at a time to thicken the yummy honey pineapple sauce until desired thickness.
  • Serve Ham with Honey Pineapple Sauce: Cut the juicy and warmed Instant Pot Ham with a sharp knife and a fork. Serve it with the yummy Honey Pineapple Ham Sauce. Enjoy & happy holidays!~ 🙂

  1. This is the best tasting ham I have ever had! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! I wish we could give 10 stars!

  2. Amy & Jack thank you… I used your recipe for cooking times on our Easter ham not the sauce. My family avoids additional sugars especially with our ham; we like savory. Your cooking times were spot on for the bone-in ham, which turned out tender and moist. Cooking for one hour in the Instant Pot versus three hours in the oven was a winner.

Your website is my go to for recipes and techniques because you use fresh ingredients, they are versatile, and easily followed.

    1. Hi Denise,

Thank you so much for your kind words on the recipe 🙂
So happy to hear how well the ham came out!

Please take care & have fun cooking
      Jacky

  3. I did this for Easter dinner and boy was it sooooooo good. The only thing I changed was I didn’t have Dijon mustard, I used honey mustard. I loved the sauce so much wasn’t overly sweet and it was great on the ham. To be honest I could just sit there and eat the sauce lol. Thanks again for this recipe and can’t wait to make it again.

  4. Hi Amy and Jack,

I’d like to give this a recipe a go for this wk-end’s Easter dinner. I have a 10lb spiral ham from Costco. How long should I set the cooking time? Many thanks.

    1. Hi Carm,

Thank you for your question 🙂

Haven’t tried a 10 lb. Perhaps you can try these cooking time.
      For 8 – 9 lbs Bone-in Uncut Ham: 20 minutes + 30 minutes Natural Release

  5. Fantastic ham. There were raves from my family. I love the way you experiment with the recipes to get the optimum flavor. You make it so easy for us.

  6. Hi Amy and Jacky,

I love all your recipes, thank you so much!

How would I adjust timing for a 4lb uncut, boneless ham? Thanks for your help!

    1. Hi Chan,

Hope you had a wonderful New Year & Christmas 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind words!

I will say roughly 13 minutes.

Happy New Year & please take care
      Jacky

  7. Hi Amy and Jacky

Can i use a raw gammon joint with bone (3.5 lbs) and how do i cook it? The pixs look so amazing and I would so love to try this recipe.

Cant wait to hear from you

Wishing you both a Blessed and Happy New Year 2019

    Doreen

    1. Hi Doreen,

Hope you had a wonderful New Year & Christmas 🙂
Thank you for your question. We haven’t tried it, but I’d start with 35 – 40 minutes and natural release.

Happy New Year & please take care!

    1. Hi Jo-Anne,

Hope you had a wonderful New Year & Christmas 🙂

  8. This was the first thing I have made in an Instant Pot other than yoghurt. I was struggling to believe the times were real! It turned out DELICIOUS. I was brave enough to do it with guests here and they loved it too.

  9. Thank you so much for posting this recipe! I had a ham that I wanted to cook for Christmas Dinner so I looked up to see if you had a recipe and you did! I didn’t feel the need to test it out as I knew it had to be amazing as it was an Amy+Jacky recipe and it was! My brother was eating the glaze over his turkey as well. This will definitely be my go to recipe for our hams and this recipe definitely deserves 5 stars! Thank you again!

    1. Hi Laurie,

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas Holiday 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind words on the recipe!

Please take care & have a wonderful weekend
      Jacky

  10. We made this for our Christmas dinner served with Pommes Anna and a chopped salad. This ham was AMAZING. I used a 9# ham and it turned out so moist. The only thing I did differently was I used crushed pineapple (20oz can) and found I needed to discard the pineapple mush after all was cooked. I did this when I separated the fat. I used a little more than 1/4c brown sugar. My ham produced so much juice that I had to double the cornstarch mixture. Overall this was an absolute keeper and I think I wouldn’t change a single thing from what I did.

  11. A Christmas ham takes me right back to my childhood, only Mama’s ham was never this moist. My husband and I were amazed. I was worried about the sauce being too sweet, but I put the full quarter cup of brown sugar in the sauce. PERFECT!!! This is our forever ham recipe, unless you come up with a better one. Your new challenge. Love you two. Merry Christmas from the mountains of NC. Barbara and Bill

  12. Hi there
Thank you for the great recipe! I have a 6qt IP and have two small boneless hams to use for this recipe. They total 3kg in weight. Would the cooking time vary using these hams? Thank you so much.

    1. Hi Anna,

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas Holiday 🙂 Thank you for your question.

I will try reducing the cooking time to 12 minutes.

Please take care & have a wonderful weekend
      Jacky

  13. Hi Amy and Jacky, how can I make this with a 6lb raw smoked ham. I love all your recipes, hope to hear from you
    Have a wonderful Xmas.

    1. Hi Sandra,

thank you so much for your kind words 🙂

6lb raw smoked ham is quite huge and I think it will take roughly 45 – 55 minutes + natural release.

Please take care & have a wonderful Christmas holiday!
      Jacky

    1. Hi Angie,

thank you for your question 🙂

The get up to pressure time will be roughly 17 – 20 minutes.

Please take care & have a wonderful Christmas holiday!
      Jacky

  14. Hi,
I’m new to the instant pot n just purchased a 3 qt mini. Can I cook a ham in a mini and if yes, what would be the cooking time n water needed?

    Thank you.

    1. Hi again Jo V 🙂

If the ham can fit into the mini then it will work.

The cooking time should be increase by roughly 10% and the water level will stay the same.

Please take care & have a great weekend
      Jacky

    1. Hi Gwen,

thank you for your question 🙂

As long as the ham fit, you can use the 6 quart Instant Pot for this recipe.

Please take care & have fun cooking
      Jacky

  15. What would the timing be for a ham that fits in a 6 qt. IP? I don’t have an 8 qt. Also, my family and I absolutely detest mustard. Is there a good substitute for this sauce, leave it out, or a different sauce you recommend? Your site is always my favorite choice for recipes!

    1. Hi Toria,

thank you for your kind words and question 🙂

The timing will be the same. You can just omit the mustard in the sauce.

Please take care & have a wonderful week
      Jacky

    2. I absolutely hate mustard and always add it to my pineapple sauce for ham. It totally grosses me out to do so, but you can’t even tell it’s in there!

    1. Hi Carol,

thank you for your question 🙂

We used a 8 quart Instant Pot for this recipe. You can use any ham that can fit into the 8 quart cooker (roughly 8″ in diameter).

Please take care & have fun cooking
      Jacky

  16. My special ham came with a glaze mix so I want to warm the ham in the cooker but not make the pineapple honey glaze. How much and what liquid would I put in my cooker and how long to cook?

    1. Hi Vicki,

      Happy Thanksgiving 🙂

Spiral ham will take a shorter time to warm up.
Roughly 3 minutes + 20 minutes Natural Release will be warm enough

Please take care & have fun cooking!
      Jacky

  17. Hi Amy + Jacky,
Thanks for this, I am always looking for way to free up oven space especially since my family insists on both ham and turkey not to mention the sides. I am wondering if you think I can still pop the ham into the oven for a bit to brown and crisp up the skin without drying it out? If so any suggestions, time and temperature? TIA. Happy Thanksgiving!!

    1. Hi S Collins,

thank you so much for your kind words and happy Thanksgiving 🙂

Yes, you can brush the pineapple sauce onto the ham and place it under the broiler. It will only take a few minutes.

Please take care & have fun cooking
      Jacky
