Hi ,
It’s Amy + Jacky from Pressure Cook Recipes. How was your week? We had fun attending a traditional Chinese sugar art (糖藝) workshop. Learned some basics on how to mold a pretty flower lollipop! Chinese sugar art dates back to the Song Dynasty (hundreds of years ago). Sugar artists would set up booths on the streets. Excited crowds would gather as the artists transform the heated sugar into beautiful edible art in minutes! It’s definitely not as easy as it seems. Not like Play-Doh or clay. The sugar is hot, so you have to be careful not to burn your hands. When the sugar is too warm, the shape you mold won’t stay and can get messy. But once it cools and hardens, you won’t be able to shape it anymore. So, you only get a sweet small window of opportunity to mold. Need to be quick and crisp. So much fun!
