What is Miso Soup?
Miso Soup 味噌汁 is the comforting, homey, ultimate staple soup in Japanese cuisine.
It’s believed that miso soup was born from the ichiju-issai style of serving meals in the Kamakura period 鎌倉時代 (1185 – 1333). This style of Japanese meals includes a bowl of rice, a bowl of miso soup, and a main side dish.
