We love steaming our veggies in our Instant Pot Pressure Cooker because it’s one less pot to watch on the stove as we cook up a meal!
Plus, cooking steamed asparagus in Instant Pot cut short cooking time, thus preserving more nutrients & its’ natural delicate flavors.
Asparagus is an elegant spring vegetable that was first cultivated ~2,500 years ago in Greece.
We’re most familiar with Green Asparagus in North America. Did you know there are Purple Asparagus and White Asparagus too? Besides the color, they each have different flavors and nutrient value.
Most of us should try to fit asparagus into our diet as they’re loaded with nutrients! It’s a very good source of fiber, vitamins, antioxidants, high in anti-inflammatory nutrients, and extremely low in calories, fat, sodium.
Tips for Buying Asparagus
When buying asparagus, choose fresh, firm, bright green, crisp stalks that have tightly closed tips, and not dry or woody.
Since asparagus comes in different sizes/thickness (pencil thin vs. thick spears). When possible, buy ones that are similar in size so they’ll cook more evenly.
