Mom's Grilled Cheese Sandwich

  • 2 slices thick cut white bread (Texas toast)
  • ½ tablespoon (7g) unsalted butter
  • 2 slices yellow cheddar cheese
  • Salt to taste


  • Melt ½ tablespoon unsalted butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Sprinkle salt over the butter to season. Place 2 slices of white bread on the skillet for a few minutes until golden brown.
  • Flip to the other side. Add 2 slices of cheddar cheese on the golden brown side of the bread. Stack the other slice of bread (golden brown side down) on top of the cheese slices.
  • Flip the whole grilled cheese sandwich when the underside is golden brown. Continue until both sides are golden brown.
