Let’s Make Instant Pot Baked Potatoes!

Step-by-Step Guide: Instant Pot Baked Potatoes

First, let’s prepare the ingredients for cooking Potatoes in Instant Pot! 🙂

*Pro Tip: Since the best cooking time differs depending on the potato’s size, try to use potatoes that have a more uniform shape & closest in size when possible. This yields the best results because the potatoes can cook more evenly & be done cooking at roughly the same time.

Step 1

Prepare Potatoes

First, scrub the potatoes thoroughly under cold running water, and poke deep holes all over the potatoes with a fork.

*Pro Tip: It’s important to poke the potatoes’ skin before pressure cooking! This step prevents the potatoes from bursting because the steam can escape from the cooking potatoes.

Step 2

Pressure Cook Potatoes

Now, add 1 cup (250ml) of cold water, and a trivet in Instant Pot Pressure Cooker.

Then, place the 4 potatoes on the trivet.

After 10 minutes of natural releasing, carefully turn the Venting Knob to Venting Position to release the pressure.

Once the Floating Valve drops, open the lid carefully.

Optional – Crisp Baked Potatoes

*Note: If you want to have crisp baked potatoes, crisp up the skin with Air Fryer Lids, Air Fryer, or Oven.

First, coat the cooked potatoes’ skin with olive oil, then season with kosher salt and ground black pepper.

Option 1 – Crisp Potatoes with Air Fryer Lid

*Note: You can follow these instructions if you have the Instant Pot Duo Crisp, Instant Pot Pro Crisp, or Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid.

Place the air fryer lid on Instant Pot.

  • Air Frying Method: Press “Air Fry” button, set the temperature to 400°F and cooking time to 8 minutes.

*Pro Tip: It takes roughly 6 – 8 minutes + preheat time. You can open the lid to check the progress of the Air Fryer Baked Potatoes.
