One of the many reasons we love December is quality time with family and friends. 🙂

What made it extra special was hanging out with my good friends from university! It’s been years since all of us gathered under the same roof.

In between all the laughter, running toddlers, and delicious chicken pot pie, our conversation often goes back to the magical “Instant Pot”… hehe~

As we were preparing for the Christmas gatherings & potlucks, we came across these adorable Egg Brulee!!

What a simple yet creative way of enjoying some luxurious soft boiled eggs!

We didn’t invent them. Chef Cailan from Eggslut did. Check out the video:

We simply adapted it for the Instant Pot and are thrilled to share with you!!

Cooking Tips for Instant Pot Egg Brulee

1. Adjust Cooking Time Accordingly

Cooking eggs in Instant Pot is tricky. Making Instant Pot Soft Boiled Eggs is even trickier.

A while back, we did a Perfect Pressure Cooker Soft, Medium, Hard Boiled Eggs Eggsperiment, and found there are many factors that affect the results of your eggs:

  • Altitude (our eggsperiment was done at close to sea level)
  • Amount and temperature of the cooking liquid
  • Size of the eggs
  • Freshness of the eggs
  • Pressure setting
  • Pressure release method
  • Cooking method (on a steamer rack or directly in the liquid)
  • Resting time & method (cold water bath/ice bath)
  • and Amount of eggs!

So test & adjust accordingly. 🙂

2. Be Generous on Salt & Sugar

It’s better to season then torch each half of the egg individually, because if you sprinkle the sugar all at once, the sugar will melt on the eggs after a prolonged period.

If the eggs are not caramelized to your desire – don’t be afraid to sprinkle a second layer of sugar on top and torch it immediately.

3. Practice Torching Skills

Mastering the Brulee skill takes patience and time! It might pay to practice before you perform in front of your guests. 😉
